EL PASO -- A 64-year-old man has been arrested in what police are describing as the largest child-pornography seizure ever in El Paso.
More than 34,500 pornographic images involving sexual penetration of infants, young girls and boys were allegedly found at the home of Antonio Barba Dueñas, police spokesman Officer Chris Mears said.
"There are images dating back to the '70s," Mears said. "As technology changed and progressed, he changed and progressed."
Mears said that the pornography, in various forms including computer Internet images and photos, was found after investigators got a tip from the Texas Attorney General's Office.
Dueñas was arrested Tuesday after police detectives and an FBI agent served a search warrant at a mobile home where Dueñas lived alone in the 11100 block of Montana.
On Thursday, investigators were still counting the images, which could surpass 40,000, police said.
Dueñas is a retired airline employee, although it was unclear what job he did.
He is not a registered sex offender, police said.
A jail log showed that Dueñas, charged with possession of child por nography, was released from jail on a $25,000 bond.
Federal charges could also be filed.
The case is being investigated by the Internet Crimes Against Children task force created in March 2008.
The task force has made 35 arrests since it began, mostly on cases for online solicitation of a minor.
